This crop was introduced for Halloween 2009 and disappeared when the event was over. It was re-released for Halloween 2010 from October 14-November 5, 2010. It was available again from October 13-December 1, 2011. Some pumpkins grow to be Jack-o-lanterns which sell for 15c per jack-o-lantern. There is no way to know whether a pumpkin planted will grow into a Jack-o-lantern. You cannot steal Jack-o-lanterns. If you attempt to steal a Jack-o-lantern you will end up with a pumpkin.
