Eggplants were introduced to the game at the same time as Tomatoes, on December 18, 2009. This crop is unlocked at level 27, and costs 165 c per plant. Each plot that is seeded gives 2 xp, and it takes 12 hours to mature. Upon harvest, it gives 3 xp and 4 Eggplants. It is not subject to Variable Harvest, so each plant will always produce 4 Eggplants, unless a neighbor steals some. Each Eggplant is worth 53 c, making the average harvest value 212 c. This crop can be upgraded to the first star after harvesting 554 plots, upgraded to the second star after harvesting 1663 plots, and upgraded to the third star after harvesting 3327 plots. The coin bonus for each excellent plot harvested is an additional 143 c.
